What is your impact initiative?

Our Impact Initiative focuses on enhancing sustainability across every aspect of our operations, with a goal of reducing the carbon footprint per stay by over 50% by 2030.

We aim to do this with the launch our ManageGreen management packages, and by changing our previous operational processes, such as swapping out harmful products or non-recyclable materials, partnering with eco-friendly linen providers and consumable partners, improving energy efficiency within our properties, influencing guest travel during their stay with us, and encouraging the use of public transport/EV charging facilities.

We are dedicated to fostering sustainability and conscious travel, ManageGreen represents our commitment to environmental responsibility and signifies an important step forward in reshaping the landscape of holiday let and short-term rental management.

We recognises the need to mitigate the environmental impact of the short term rental sector. ManageGreen is an initiative driven by a conscious effort to bring sustainability to the forefront of holiday let management, while also providing a multitude of benefits for both our property owners and guests.

Our ManageGreen offering includes four key pillars: partnerships and carbon offsetting, sustainability badges, energy efficient solutions, and conscious travel guides.

We believe holidays should be enriching for both travellers and destinations. We aim to offer experiences that tread lightly on the environment and empower local communities.

We strive to increase the positive impact short stays bring to local communities, as well as supporting local businesses via partnerships and company volunteering programmes.

The impact your initiative has had:

As part of Host & Stay’s environmental, social and governance strategy, ManageGreen was created on the principle of collaboration with like-minded, environmentally-conscious partners.

Through partnerships with brands including Who Gives A Crap, Wonky Coffee, EnviroRental, Eight Versa, Ecologi and GreenTheUK, we are ensuring operations are aligned with sustainable practices. We have already swapped all of the toilet paper in our properties to 100% recycled paper.

By replacing consumables with more responsible alternatives, and working to eliminate single-use plastics, we are making tangible strides towards reducing our ecological footprint.

Through our partnership with Who Gives A Crap, hundreds of trees have been saved from being cut down each year, as all holiday lets cleaned by Host & Stay have changed to recycled toilet paper.

Furthermore, Host & Stay is actively choosing to support a supplier that donates 50 per cent of profits to help build toilets and improve sanitation in countries with poor infrastructure.

By collaborating with local and global initiatives, it is focused on tree planting and reforestation, with the end goal of mitigating Host & Stay’s carbon emissions to the fullest extent possible.

With the global demand for sustainable travel options on the rise, we have partnered with Sustonica. Sustonica addresses a critical need in the market, providing our guests with the assurance their choices align with their values. And with more guests searching for sustainable properties, this means our homeowners are more likely to see their properties appeal to a wider audience.

Our ManageGreen managment package has introduced the adoption of resiAIR™ in our owners properties. resiAIR™ is cutting-edge technology designed to optimise energy usage. Using WiFi-enabled sensors, resiAIR™ intelligently regulates lighting and heating systems based on guest occupancy, resulting in significant cost savings, reduced emissions and enhanced guest comfort.

Designed exclusively for our property owners, resiAIR™ can save property owners up to 32 per cent on their property energy costs.

From temperature to humidity, noise to occupancy, resiAIR™ captures it all, so property owners can quickly and easily benefit from efficiencies and cost savings.

As part of our ManageGreen initiative, we are empowering guests to make informed and sustainable travel decisions through our comprehensive digital travel guides.

From highlighting public transportation routes and EV charging spots to promoting more responsible activities and supporting local businesses, our online guides provide guests with the resources needed to minimise their environmental impact while maximising their experience.
