As part of the AccessAble ‘Accessibility and You’ survey, only 36% of people felt that they had experienced good staff awareness of their own access requirements.
The Accessible Kent online training programme, delivered in partnership with AccessAble is available to tourism and hospitality businesses across Kent. ‘Disability Essentials’ is a SCORM compliant module that can be integrated into the organisations current training programmes as well as hosted independently.
The module is for everyone – from management to reception to shop-floor to venue guides. The course covers the following topics:
- What do we mean by “disability”?
- Disability equality and the law
- Types of impairments
- Providing a greater service to everyone
- Language
The lessons can be undertaken in 45 minutes and considers all aspects of disability and aims to enable people to be more confident and comfortable in their engagement with disabled people
The courses include a series of embedded videos featuring our AccessAble Champions who have direct experience of the range of disabilities and challenges described in the training.
